CROSSTIA is in active beta (v1.0) - features, pricing, and functionality may change without notice. It's provided "as is" during the beta period, without warranty of any kind; use it at your own risk and keep your own exported copies of anything important. Autosave is a convenience, not a guaranteed backup. CROSSTIA is currently free to use during this beta feedback period; that may change in the future.
You own every pattern you create with CROSSTIA, fully and without restriction. We claim no rights to your designs, and we never see them - your work is stored locally in your own browser and only leaves your device when you choose to export or share it yourself.
CROSSTIA runs entirely in your browser. Your patterns, palette, and settings are stored locally (browser storage / IndexedDB autosave) and are never uploaded to a CROSSTIA server. There's currently no account system, and the app itself does not collect personal information or use tracking/analytics - though our hosting provider may log standard, anonymized web traffic, as is normal for any website. This section will be rewritten once accounts/login are introduced.
CROSSTIA's own software is proprietary - (C) 2026 Awais. All rights reserved. You're welcome to use the app to create and export your own cross-stitch patterns; the CROSSTIA software itself may not be copied, redistributed, or resold.
Symbol Set 1's icons are adapted from apancik/public-domain-icons (public domain). Symbol Set 2's icons are adapted from Tabler Icons (MIT License, (C) Pawel Kuna). Full license text is in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md in the project source.
The core workflow, in six steps
What everything in CROSSTIA does
Select: Move (click a layer's stitches, then drag - or right-click-drag with any tool), Pan, Rectangle Select, Lasso (freeform).
Stitch: Full, French Knot, Half (forward/backward), Backstitch and Straight Stitch - both with a snap-step flyout (whole, half, or quarter cell) for the Thread Guide.
Shapes: Line, Rectangle, Circle, Triangle - drag on the canvas, colored from the Palette; hold Shift for a solid fill.
Edit: Eyedropper (pick a color off the canvas), Eraser, Fill (flood-fill a connected area), Confetti cleanup (remove isolated single stitches).
Colors: the hero swatch and quick-access grid at the bottom mirror your Palette panel, for painting without switching panels.
Undo/Redo, Zoom in/out/Fit, and the Eye toggle (hides pasteboard/off-canvas content from view and editing - it stays saved either way).
Fabric, Count, Pasteboard color, and Light are view-only - they change how the canvas looks while you work but never affect your stitches or export. Render mode switches between Flat (plain color) and Symbol (chart symbols) at any time.
Colors tab: click a swatch to paint with it, double-click to replace its color. Search by code or name; the ⋮ menu sorts, merges similar colors, and converts the whole palette between DMC and Anchor codes.
Symbols tab: assign a printed-chart symbol to each color. Search by keyword (e.g. "moon", "heart", "star") across all three Symbol Sets - 500+ symbols in total.
Click to select a layer, drag to reorder or nest it into a folder. The toolbar below the list adds, groups, ungroups, merges, duplicates, or deletes the selected layer(s).
A live read-out of your current canvas: stitch dimensions, Aida count, finished size, color count, and total stitches. Updates automatically as you draw, crop, or expand.
Start a New pattern, Open a saved one, or import a photo or OXS file to begin from existing artwork or another program's pattern.
PDF pattern charts (six layout variants), PNG/JPG/SVG snapshots, and OXS/JSON project files. The Branding sub-tab adds your shop name, logo, and social links to exported PDFs.
Save any selection as a reusable motif (via the canvas right-click menu's "Add to Motifs"), then drag it back onto the canvas any time - in this pattern or a future one.
Type a line of text and place it directly onto the canvas as stitches, in the current stitch color.
